‘Play in a Day’ at Boulder Stake Center

Youth performers and an audience filled the cultural hall for the evening’s performances of “Play in a Day” at the Boulder Stake Center at 701 W. South Boulder Road, Louisville, Colo., on Sat., March 17, 2012.

Lines of folding chairs faced the stage at one end of the large room that also serves as a gym with a basketball court. People chatted and sounded excited as they found their seats and waited. A half-sheet program told the line up of performances and the rules for the plays.

Young Men and Young Women, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ages 12 to 18 years old, participated in a 3-day activity where they planned original plays, gathered and made props, and performed their plays. The bulk of the work was done in one day. Continue reading

Boulder Stake youth clean up Coal Creek Corridor

A church youth group cleaned up trash along the Coal Creek Corridor in Erie on Sat., Aug. 23. Afterward, they met with Major Andrew Moore in the park. Around 9 a.m., two smaller groups headed north and two south from the Coal Creek Park to the open space surrounding Coal Creek. They picked up trash from both sides of the creek.

The approximately 70 youth and their leaders came from the Boulder Colorado Stake, a geographical division of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Roughly 3,000 members of the stake reside in Broomfield, Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior and Erie.

“The city has really been great to work with,” said Quinn Remund, second counselor in the Boulder Colorado Stake presidency. He added the city provided the bags, coordinated the details, and actively supported the group’s efforts that morning. Continue reading
